What Causes Irritations And Burning Sensation In The Tongue After A Biopsy?

I had a tongue biopsy performed today, I felt great and I was playing with my grand children . Now I have irritation ,sore little burning sensation. I just took the hydrocodone medicine that Dr. gave me. I noticed a little pinkish color in my saliva.
Should I used ice pack outside?

Hi,

As per your complain soreness and burning sensation of tongue after biopsy can be due to weaning off from the effect of anesthesia that must be give to you prior to the procedure to prevent pain. Pinkish colour in saliva seems to be due to slight bleeding from biopsy site. Nothing to worry as there is nothing serious and gradually as the area will heal, the symptoms will subside. You can as of now do cool compresses, apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine and take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen for relief. Take a soft diet.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
