What Causes Irregular Vaginal Bleeding After Taking Postpone 72?

6 to 8 days after consumption of Postpone 72, my wife is experiencing vaginal bleeding. Her next period is due on 28th Jan however she is experiencing bleeding on 14th/15th Jan. We are a bit worried. Are these the side effects of the pill or something else? Please advice.

I understand your concern.
Postpone 72 is an emergency contraceptive pill, which needs to be taken within 72 hours to prevent unwanted or accidental pregnancy.
The pill would prevent pregnancy by causing breakthrough bleeding in the form of periods within 3 weeks from the day of intake of the pill. Most often, bleeding occurs by one week itself.
Hence, what your wife has experienced is the effect of the pill which has been taken. Accordingly, the cycle pattern would chance because the bleeding could happen either early or later from their regular periods.
From next cycle onwards, her periods should happen regularly for the number of days, as was happening earlier.
So, there is noting to be worried about and do not be anxious about it.
