What Causes Irregular Periods?

hi My daughter is 17 years of age at 142 lbs. Since she started menstruating at the age of thirteen, her periods are irregular. i took her to many doctors and they said they will get better with time but it has actually aggravated and are absent for a month or two. she becomes very tired all the time, irritable, depressed ,gains too much weight, and full of acne. i give her multivitamin, Udo s oil which is an organic blend of omega 3-6-9 as well as indole 3 but sometimes it helps, sometimes doesn;t. please help. Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Many a times periods get normalized within few months of start. But your daughter needs investigations to find cause (severe weakness ovarian, thyroid, pituitary hormones). Once the cause is known, it can be treated when cause is known. Please consult a gynecologist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
