What Causes Irregular Period?

I currently got taken off of my nexplanon birth control becauas my period were out of control. I thought if I got off of it I would have regular periods again. The first month I had a normal period, well this month I have been on and off of a period for 3 weeks. What is causing this? ? I am trying to conceive and it s not gonna happen like this.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concerns.

Nexplanon is an implant containing Etonogestrel used to prevent unwanted pregnancy.

As it contains a hormone, it will cause hormonal imbalance even when it is taken off. This explains the irregular periods you are having now.

It will take up to 1 year after the implant is taken off to get pregnant. So, you need to be patient and to follow your OG advice.

All the best!
