What Causes Involuntary Movements In The Arms After A Surgery?

I had several cysts surgically removed yesterday in my right ankle. One had attached itself to a nerve. During my recovery now, I m randomly experiencing quick sudden movements of either my arms or the surgical leg. Is this a concern or will it go away before my 2 week follow up apppt? These movements are uncontrollable.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per my clinical experience, it is not an usual thing to have involuntary movements of arms and legs after surgery.

It could be side effect of certain medicines, post anesthesia recovery issues or others.

I strongly recommend you to talk to your doctor's office immediately and get further assistance in this regards.

Take care.

Regards.
