What Causes Intermittent Sub Clavicular Pain On The Left Side?

I am having intermittent sub clavicular pain on the left side. I feel like it s from sleeping in an unfamiliar bed while traveling, but it keeps coming back. Do I really need to rush off to the hospital because of chest pain , or is there something I can do to try to make it better first and if that doesn t work go to the doctor.

Hi,

I suggest you to go to the hospital to run tests for heart like ECG, Echo and cardiac enzymes as well. It could be due to angina in worst case scenario. Since you have not mentioned any other symptoms like shortness of breath but still i want to rule out any tiny possible cardiac pathology. It could be due to other causes as well:
- sleeping position
- joint injury
- thoracic outlet syndrome
- osteoarthritis

While awaiting your appointment to your doctor take OTC analgesics for your pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sameen Bin Naeem, General & Family Physician
