What causes ingrown hair in the pubic area?

I had an ingrown hair in the pubic area my boyfriend helped me using the tweezers and pull the hair out. There was a little blood but then he kept digging into this bump and there was a white to millimeter it look like a worm or could be in another hair or the pocket for the hair follicle root not sure what it was.

Hi. the whitish thing could be hair root. To avoid ingrown hairs, avoid shaving and use trimmers. Also, use trimmers after bath as hair is soft and easy to cut. Hope it helps
