What Causes Inflammation In The Anus Of A Child After Swallowing A Penny?

My granddaughter swallowed a penny 2 days ago and I had her x-rayed. The penny was in her stomach and I ve watched and looked in her stools but no penny yet. Tonight she had a poop smear in her pants and it was a little wet. Her bottom is now enflamed so I put her in the tub to clean and comfort it. I applied medication on her butt and she said it felt better. Is it possible that the penny is at the sphincter of her rectum and this is a reaction to the metal? She ate a lot and drank a lot today and I think she may pass it tomorrow. Can I wait until tomorrow?
