What Causes Increasing Resistance To Catheter Insertion?
I use a urninary catheter twice daily. Recently !y urinary flow has improved to the point that the catheter when fully inserted is vacating very little urone. However on the last few days I have experienced increasing resistance to catheter insertion

Hi.
This happens purely due to the repeated catheter insertion, which causes the formation of scar tissue and thus the increased resistance. This can be beaten using silicon catheters which are different from the normal ones, and do not require repeated removals and insertion, because they can be used for about 6-12 months at a stretch without carrying the common complications of a normal catheter (e.g. foley's catheter).
