What Causes Increasing Rashes On Forearm And Chest?

I am an R.N.Have had 2 pixels on face and neck 10 weeks apart. Have had IPL on face, chest and arms twice in those areas. I operate theses machines on people in the last 2 years. About 4 weeks ago, I IPL d my forearms for the first time and chest for the second. like always .bI used the gel and cleaned it off after tx.I developed a rash on forearms and chest, Nothing helped until I was put on a steroid pack. I pixel end my chest yesterday. woke up this a.m., rash where I pixels and under bra line where I never pixeled. This happened to spread last time. What do you think it is? Rash is spreading in areas where no laser to. Was done. Thank you!

Hello,

It is completely normal to have rashes after laser treatment. Laser hair removal kills the hair follicles and hence the heat may cause dry skin and allergies or rashes. It is normal to have rashes after laser treatment. You can apply a steroid cream or an ointment in the affected area. Take antihistamines, in case you have sensitive skin and got rashes due to allergy.

Avoid wearing underwire bra for a couple of days. Wear loose fitting clothes and avoid exposure to sunlight. Avoid outdoors ventures unless necessary. Do not scratch and take care of your personal hygiene. You can consult a dermatologist if it does not go away on its own.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
