What Causes Increased Blood Glucose Level After Taking Statins?

The woman in my family have ALWAYS had high cholesterol. My last labs revealed Total Cholestorol as 165, HDL 31, LDL as 101 and tryiglycerides at 167. What does all this actually mean? Since being put on statins my glucose is now climbing and last tests showed 120. I never had high glucose until the statins were prescriped. What can or should I be doing.

Hello,

It is not related to statins. The sugar values are not that much high either. You can go for a fasting blood sugar to know you are prediabetic or not. The cholesterol status is now under control with statins.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
