Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Sir, I suffered from photo sensitivity due to a medication I was taking which has caused hyper pigmentation on my hands causing the a part of my skin on both my hands to turn dark brown- blackish. My skin colour is brown. My doctor has suggested the use of Brite day cream by Wallace. I have been using it for over 3 months now. Although the patches have turned lighter. The process of lightening is very slow. What do you suggest? And are there any side effects if using Brite cream?
As per your query you have hyper pigmentation on hands due to sun senstivity of certain drug you were taking . Well there can be many reason for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case it seems to me that the hyper pigmentation is due to tanning or post inflammatory hyper pigmentation . The brit cream contains hydroquinone and has only bleaching effect and also has side effects in long run , so use this totaly as per prescription of the doctor . I would suggest you to protect your hands fron sun exposure , apply broad spectrum sunscreen while in exposure to un , wash you hands with cold water and and apply kojic acid cream twice a day and also exfoliate your skin once a week . I condition doesn't get improve then consult dermatologist for chemical peeling and laser therapy .
Hope your concern has been resolved .
