What Causes Hollow Echo Sounds In The Ears?

I have had a weird hollow echoing in my ears. Almost feels like when I fly and I get back in airport and can't hear well. I have not had a cold or flu. However it started after the passing of my brother & I cried a lot for days. That was a week ago. Is there any correlation?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain hollow echoing sound in ears can be due to causes like excess wax accumulation,Eustachian tube blockage, fluid in the middle ear, ear infection etc..
consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination and investigations like otoscopic examination, x ray, MRI scan, Audiometry etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised to take oral and nasal decongestants in case of blockage in the eustachian tubes or fluid inside the middle ear..
If it does not resolve surgical drainage and pressure equalization tubes can be placed..
Excess ear wax can be removed manually..
Infection will be treated with antibiotics like Augmentin, Cephalexin etc..
Along with it avoiding water exposure like swimming should be done to prevent infection..
Avoiding exposure to loud sounds should be done .
Avoid popping the ears to prevent injury to eardrum...

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
