What Causes Hip Pain In A Growing Child?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...So, earlier this week my 9 year old son woke up c/o his right hip region hurting. He was moving slow while getting ready for school and his reason for this was because of the hip pain. Well, one other day he awoke c/o of the same symptoms. Well, this morning, he called for me, crying, and said that he couldn't move his legs and he needed to use the restroom. He actually had me pick him up and put him on the toilet, then carry him back to the bed! I tried to move one of his legs and he screamed. He has no change in the color of his skin. No swelling, no fever. He has had a pretty congested sounding cough. I called my mother in law who is an RN and she told me to give him some type of pain reducer and if it doesn't help or he develops a fever to take him in. I am just wondering if I should take him anyway, but then I was wondering if it is growing pains?!
