What Causes High Bp With Toxemia During Pregnancy?

Hi I'm 24 years old pregnant with my first child I'm 36 weeks and 5 days today. I have been told I have mild toxemia. I just checked my blood pressure this morning and it is 130/100 in my left arm and 140/100 in my right arm. Since yesterday the diastolic niumber has not gone under 92. Should I contact my doctor? Or go straight to the hospital?

Hu, I have gone through your question. Blood pressure more than 140/90 mmHg in pregnancy after 20 weeks of pregnancy is known as hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. If it is associated with urinary protein, then it is known as toxemia in pregnancy.
Blood pressure of more than 130/100 mmHg is definitely to be examined and treated urgently.Other signs and symptoms need to be examined, and if needed urgent delivery has to be done.
I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined, investigated and treated.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.

Dr Deepti verma
