What Causes High Blood Pressure After A Lumpectomy?

Hello - I recently had a lumpectomy to removed a malignant breast tumor - great news is that the lymph node was clear, the margin negative as well and the behavior of the tumor - non aggressive = prognosis Arimidex for 5 years and 4 weeks of radiation. I do have anxiety but lately over the course of a few months my blook pressure has gotten more and more elevated and I feel bloated a bit too. Not any extensive weight gain. I am so worried I have other cancer and am petrified. Does the removal of a tumor change the body s behavior? today they took my first set of blood tests for tumor marker and also liver etc. - what does that test provide exactly?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is not related to lumpectomy. Consult a physician and get evaluated. If blood pressure is persistently elevated, anti hypertensives like Amlodipine may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing all the best. Thanks.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
