What Causes Herpes Infection?

I have just got my first outbreak of herpes - I have been with the same partner for a while and neither of us had the virus that I was aware of. How does this occur? I have started taking antivirals no later then 72hrs later - how long will it take for them to kick in? Will I continue to have outbreaks now that I have the virus? Once it s cleared up, am I at risk of passing the virus onto my partner? I m just really confused and would like some more information that can help inform me of what now

Hi,

Herpes virus may take from other people but this is not necessary. Most of the papulation already have the virus lying dormant. It causes rashes when reactivate. So it's not necessary to have a contact.

It generally heals in free days, many times treatment is not needed but acyclovir may hasten the healing if started early.

Once the Rash starts crusting,(not to mention when it disappear) then you are no more Infectious to others.
