What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding While On Progesterone?

I am a 58 year old woman, currently taking oral progesterone 100 mg q hs and using an estradiol patch .1 mg twice a week. I ve had heavy breakthrough bleeding, weight gain and insomnia. I ve been using this form of HRT for the past 6 months. Prior to that, I was using bio identical therapy, but switched when my pharmacy stopped compounding. I started menopause in 2007 and I m still experiencing dryness and occasional hot flashes. I d like to take a break from all HRT, but I m concerned about menopausal symptoms returning. Please advise. Thank you!!

I can understand your concern.
Your current age is 58 years. And in my opinion, at this age, Menopausal symptoms don't occur.
Menopausal symptoms are highest between 50-55 years. So HRT (hormone replacement therapy) is needed during these years only.
So you can definitely stop HRT after consulting your gynecologist.
