What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding And Clotting With History Of An Ablation?

Hi. Had an ablation 13 months ago...heavy bleeding and clotting started a week and a half ago. My doctor prescribed Lystada to stop bleeding. I ve taking lysteda for 10 days straight. Went for follow up today and had an ultrasound. Since then severe cramping, heavy bleeding and clotting started again. Is this normal?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Very heavy vaginal bleed may be part of various clinical conditions such as:
- Ovarian cyst or other tumors
- Uterine hyperplasia
- Adenomyosis
- Uterine tumors
- Endocrine abnormalities such as thyroid problems or others

However, a detailed case study, gynecologist examination, ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis are primary evaluations for the possible differential diagnosis approach. If you have any of the reports available with you, kindly share with me during follow up period, so that better guidance can be figured out.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
