What Causes Heart Palpitations?

Earlier today while walking in the mall with my mother, my joints started hurting in a weird way. About 30 minutes ago, i started laughing about something my aunt said and my stomach hurt. It was like someone was poking needles in my abdomen. And just a few seconds ago, my heart gave this random beat that was really hard. Like, i felt like it beat against my chest and i could feel it in my head and throat. Does this sound weird, normal, crazy, or what. Are they in anyway related?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern, I would explain that your symptoms are related to high adrenaline levels due to strong emotions (or emotional stress). There is nothing to worry about!

Anyway, if these symptoms persist, I recommend performing a resting ECG and checking blood electrolytes and thyroid hormone levels.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist
