What Causes Heart Palpitations With Blurry Vision And Diarrhea After Alcohol Consumption?

29 year old female. For about 6 months I ve been having these weird issues. It started with an incidence, where I d been drinking. Maybe 6 shots of vodka and a beer, much less than my normal amount. My heart began racing and pounding hard. My vision got blurry. I felt this weird sensation like I might faint. I was terrified. I suddenly had to run to the bathroom and had diarrhea. Flash forward 6 months. While my attacks don t last that long or get that severe, I still get them. I ve since quit drinking. The zoloft I d been on for 5 years, I quit taking that too. The doctor prescription klonopin. Blamed it all on depression and anxiety. I ve had blood work done, gone to the er when the dizziness and heart racing is happening, and all they found was wrong was my heart going around 130 when my normal is around 90. I ve noticed that the worst I feel usually happens around digestive issues. I ll get really bad diarrhea and I ll feel shaky and have palpitations. At least once a week. I feel really isolated. I feel like the doctor doesn t take these symptoms seriously and just want me to go to a shrink.

Hi,

Zoloft is Sertraline in therapeutic class acts as an antidepressants. Zoloft and alcohol are both drugs that interact with brain. You shouldn't drink alcohol while you take it. Even a single drink can interact with your medication and cause unwanted side effects like dizziness, drowsiness, lack of concentration, extreme intoxication, impairment, loss of inhibition, blackouts, violent behaviour etc.

You haven't mentioned here when and how stopping Zoloft. Because stopping abruptly may cause withdrawal symptoms like irritability, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, rapid heart beat, headache, makes anxiety or depression worse, nightmares etc.

Again, according to ur statement u may suffer from anxiety disorders. Common sign and symptoms of anxiety disorders include- nervousness, restlessness, panic attacks, increased heart rate, breathing difficulties, GIT upset, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, sweating etc. You can take Propranolon for your rapid heart rate.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
