What Causes Heart Palpitations While Having Polycystic Liver And Kidney Diseases?

I suffer from polycystic liver and kidney disease resulting in high blood pressure (high diastolic). Recently, I also notice episodes of high pulse rate of 100 and above quite often when the blood pressure becomes relatively normal say around 130s/80s rather than 130s/100s. So I want to know whether there is any correlation between polycystic disease and heart palpitations. I am 58. Thanks.

Hello,

According to your situation definitely there is a relation between polycystic disease and cardiovascular problems Hypertension and tachycardia is a common early symptom of and occurs in approximately 60% of patients before renal function has become impaired. Hypertension is associated with an increased rate of progression to end-stage renal disease and is the most important.

Left ventricular hypertrophy, which is a powerful, independent risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Both hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy have important roles in cardiovascular complications in this disease. As you said you are hypertensive, are you taking any beta blockers drugs for hypertension or do you miss the dose or change in drugs which can also be one of the cause.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
