What Causes Headaches, Dizziness And Leg Cramps After Taking Oxtellar XR?

My question is I am epileptic currently taking the medication Oxtellar XR 600mg since I have been taking this med for 7months I have headaches also dizziness as well as leg cramps I have spoken with my neurologists but they feel I should remain on this medication the last gran-mal was 2yrs ago the only gran-mal I have had since diagnosed with epilepsy what should I do please?

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. You are suffering from generalised seizure and are on Oxcarbazepine XR 600 MG since last 7 months. Oxcarbazepine is a broad spectrum anti-seizure drug and some individuals taking that drug may develop cramps in legs, headache, dizziness etc symptoms. Start taking folic acid tablets along with your drug and this will help to improve your cramps. As you are responding to the drug so no need to stop the drug in my opinion.

If possible discuss with your psychiatrist and start taking the drug in two divided doses that is in 300 mg XR doses, in morning and evening time. This would result in better tolerance of the drug and dizziness and headache would reduce. Consult your psychiatrist before making any change in prescription.
