What Causes Headaches After Receving Cortisone Injections?
Yesterday I had cortisone injections in both knees. 12 hrs later a bad headache began, which has only worsened. My blood pressure has also shot up: it was 128/82 at the doctor s office, and is now 170/82. Could the headache & BP increase be a side effect to the cortisone? Do I need to do anything?
Your supposing is wright. Cortisone and other drugs in this family of drugs raise the blood pressure. High blood pressure gives you the headache. At first try to reduce the salt in your diet and do some physical activity (walking). If your blood pressure remains high consider the antihypertensive drugs. Your doctor can prescribe one of them. Nifedipine, amlodipine or enalapril taken under the tongue will help to lower the blood pressure when it's high like in your case. Enalapril 20mg half tablet twice a day would help to take your blood pressure under control. If i've helped you with my answer please kindly rate it. All the best for you!
