Hello,
As per my clinical experience, the brain infection either in form of
meningitis,
encephalitis or others may pause multiple problems at brain anatomy, physiology and conduction pathways. There can be stretching of underlying neuronal pathway, compression of nerve conduction or altered levels of
neurotransmitters through underlying infection, inflammation and body response via
prostaglandins and interleukins.
Management guidelines include:
- Control of basic pathology and infectious agent with broad spectrum antibiotics according to the cause
- Hydration maintenance
- Control of oxygen levels in brain
- Maintenance of central venous pressure and jugular venous pressure
- Supportive analgesic as tramadol hydrochloride,
acetaminophen or others as opioids if not contraindicated
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
