What Causes Headache On Left Side Of Head Behind Ear?

Since Monday I started getting headaches that are located on the left side of my head behind the ear but in the middle of the skull from top to bottom. I ve never had these before and I m 61 and in very good health. Advil seemed to work but now it s worse. I actually went to my doctor today but he didn t think it was anything. It is really bothering me so I m wondering if you had any advice?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of headache on left side of head behind ear which can be caused by many factors like stress, Eustachian tube dysfunction, temporomandibular joint problem, increase blood pressure and cervical spondylosis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Put otogesic ear drops in ear. You should take steam inhalation on daily basis. Doctor may order certain test like audiometry , CT scan ,MRI , low and high pitched ringing to rule out conditions like exposure to loud noises , earwax buildup , middle ear infection.You should take antibiotics along with anti inflammatory medicines like ibuprofen and diclofenac. Avoid excessive hard substance eating.
