What would a 20 year old woman have if she initially complained of feeling hot, having a frontal headache, loose bowel motions, and muscle aches and pains, and in the last 24 hours her symptoms worsened and is confused and clearly quite ill. She has a 104 degree fever. low blood pressure of 90/60. There is a widespread erythematous rash over her trunk, mild conjunctivitis, and inflamed mucous membranes of the mouth. She got her menstrual cycle the other day and upon removal of the tampon has vaginal mucous that appears red and inflamed. Additional lab work reveals abnormal liver function tests, elevated urea and creatinine levels, and elevated white blood cell count.
