What Causes Headache, Chills, Shivering, Body Aches And Fever?

My husband is a healthy 70 yo. He woke up yesterday morning with a headache which is somewhat unusual for him. He took me to work and by the he returned home about 10 minutes later he had chills and difficulty typing a text to me because he was shaking. He threw up after this and went to bed to get warm. Later in the day, he felt better and got up to the couch. He seemed some better last evening and this morning, but by late morning today he felt moderate sore and achy all over and his fever seemed to be higher. We have rotated ibuprofen with excedrin today with no apparent relief of the general achiness and discomfort. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The symptoms seem to be related to a viral infection.

I suggest you use anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen.

I also recommend drinking liquids and a lot of rest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
