What Causes Headache And Profuse Sweating While Suffering From Obesity?

Hello, I am 56 years old, have disease states and symptoms of morbid obesity 5 6 -265 lb, headache and migraines, profuse sweating at least exertion, I mean dripping hair. Sleeping apnea with use of CPAP waiting for PA for Bipap. Depression, Anxiety, asthma, fatigue, and lack of energy. Ache on the left side of my neck. Decreased appetite despite weight. SOB. I drink enough water avg 2 quarts daily. I have an appointment with my PCP in October. Today was an especially difficult day physically. Was cleaning a 1/2 acre of property, weed wacking, mowing, trimming brush, laundry, and had to rest frequently.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Well, The amount of sweat considered normal is quite variable and depends on the demands of the body. Excessive sweating, also called hyperhidrosis, means that you sweat far more than your body needs you to sweat.

For example, if you sweat while sitting calmly at your desk, that is excessive sweating.

In hyperhidrosis, the body's cooling mechanism is so overactive that it produces four or five times the amount of sweat that you need.

However, sometimes if sweating happens during the night or there is associated weight loss then it may indicate some more serious issues such as lymohima or hormonal imbalances.

In every case, if this persists you should see internist first to do some tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
