Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had my hair dyed yesterday, now I have a throbbing headache and my scalp/head just feels really tight. Is this normal to feel due to the tugging and having my hair pulled at? I have had it dyed before but not this colour, its not a home colour it was at a salon.
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is possible that you reacted to the chemicals in this particular hair dye. Some persons have allergic reactions which can vary from mild to severe as a result of use of different hair products. The use of pain medication along with allergy medication may be appropriate. Anti inflammatory pain medication such as ibuprofen, naproxen or cataflam would help to reduce your discomfort. Allergy meds such as benadryl, claritine, zyrtec, allegra, can be used as well. The reaction should decrease within a few days.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
