What Causes Hair Loss After Taking Prednisolone In A 2 Year Old?

Hello, My 2 year old son was treated for his croup/chest complaint a month ago and was prescribed a 3 day course of 15mg Prednisolone to be dissolved and taken orally in 2.5ml of water. His health returned to normal within 1 week and has been normal since although he has experienced a generalised thinning and loss of hair which has become noticeable and progressive over the past 2 weeks. We can not see any marks to the scalp, and no other obvious events have taken place in this time to our knowledge. What is the likelihood that prednisolone would be causing the hair loss, and what is his prognosis? Thank you in advance. Ben

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if the steroid being given in lowest possible dose with short duration with strong indication then it may not cause any harm and in pediatric age it is being well tolerated it dose not cause any hair loss hope this information helps.
