What Causes Grinding Teeth With Metallic Taste In Mouth?

Hi, I'm a 55 year old male with numerous amalgam (sp?) fillings in my teeth. I "grind" my teeth, and often have taste of metal in my mouth. I'm wondering if this is, a) dangerous, and/or, b) could be associated with symptoms of fatigue and depression. Thank you for your help!

Hi Dear ,

As per you query you have metallic taste in your mouth and having a few amalgam fillings . Well there can be many reasons for metallic taste like certain medicine ( antibiotics ) , sinusitis , poor oral hygiene , food allergy , middle ear infection and nervous system dysfunction . I would suggest you to maintain proper oral hygiene by brushing and flossing teeth twice a day and do warm saline rinses twice a day . Consult dentist for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically and may give night guard for grinding of teeth ( bruxism ) . Doctor may also perform oral prophylaxis and may prescribe antibiotics . Doctor may also refer you to specialist lie neurologist gastroenterologist or ENT specialist if he/she find problem to be related with nervous system , acid reflux or sinusitis respectively .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
