What Causes Green Stool With Mucus?

My baby girl is 3.5 months old (wt approx. 6.4 kg) and is having green stool since last 20-25 days. We had done stool routine which showed the presence of mucus and WBC/hpf 10-12. She took Taxim-O for 7 days (3 ml twice a day), but the stool still remained green. I had another stool test done which again showed presence of mucus and WBC/hpf 6-8. Baby is also taking Vizylac syrup (2.5 ml twice a day). Pls suggest if this is an infection and do I need to do any further tests.

Pediatrician, Neonatology 's  Response

hi you didn't mention if you are exclusively breast feeding ur child, in which case it's a normal variant only. and also the frequency and consistency of the stool. if ur child is having recurrent episodes and ur giving top feeds also, wash and sterilise her bottles properly along with washing ur hands also. as you have given her a antibiotic course just give her some probiotic sachets twice daily, and also try to reduce milk intake in your diet if you are breastfeeding as it may cause intolerance in some babies.
