General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Goose bumps also called as pilo erection is seen in skin during several conditions. In this the hair is raised along with some hair follicle and skin tissue. Fear, sadness, joy are some of the reasons stimulating the skin results in Goose bumps. Exercise can cause piloerection through sympathetic stimulation.

Physical activity stimulates the nervous system which in turn cause piloerection in response to the stimuli. Chills and cold also cause piloerection. Management involves emotional stability, calmness, controlled feelings. Warm clothing also prevents piloerection when it is caused by cold or chill. Visit the physician for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
