What Causes Gag Reflex And Hiccups After Eating?

Yes. My sister has a gag reflex when she eats solid food, i.e. hamburger. It s like she has the dry heaves. This does not happen with drinking or with something small like a potato chip. This reflex is with each swallow of regular food. The also has the hick ups often. What could this be from?

Hi..can understand you concern..As per your query about vomiting and hiccups in your sister while eating may be due to GERD(gastro oesophageal reflex disease)or maybe acidity and gastritis..You need to take smaller meals frequently rather than taking larger meals together..Avoid spicy food and junk foods Take more of liquids and easily digestible foods..Avoid doing other activities while having food like watching TV or laptop etc.You can take Pan-D for 3-5 days twice a day. you should consult a physian about it if it is creating more problem..I hope the information helps you.Take care.
