What Causes Fullness Of Upper Abdomen After Eating, And Especially After Caffeine?

iI am experiencing lots of fullness/pressure in my upper abdomen area soon after eating and especially after caffiene. It will feel like I m being punched in the gut and it ll take my breath away to the point I feel as if I may pass out. It never lasts long but it s scary. My cardiologist has ruled out heart issues. The Gastroenterologist has done an endoscope and found nothing that concerned him. Any ideas?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The gastoenterologist would have made sure that there are no structural changes to the esophagus and stomach, this means that you have no ulcers or erosions noted.

The sensation of fullness would likely be bloating and it is commonly not associated with any structural changes unless there is severe acid reflux along with it.

You may want to consider eliminated foods that are more likely to cause bloating such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, beans, carbonated drinks, brussel sprouts, turnips, prunes.
These are some of the more common foods that cause this problem though there are a few more if elimination of these is not enough.

You should also reduce caffeine products as well.

Dietary modification may be enough but if that is not the case, then you may need medications such as prilosec, prevacid, protonix, nexium.
Even though you are not having typical reflux symptoms, these medications have been known to help with bloating as well.

I hope this helps
