Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 7 year old has been complaining off and on for last 2 days of stomach hurting. She ate fine this morning, but this afternoon really said belly was hurting. She has vomited 4 times and isn t keeping even water down. The last time what came up was bright yellow?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. By your history and description, possibility of acute gastroenteritis (AGE) is more. Vomiting, abdominal pain etc are symptoms of AGE. So better to take him to the hospital because he will need intravenous treatment. Vomiting won't allow oral medicines to work. So for initial few days intravenous treatment is needed in the form of intravenous fluid, antibiotic, anti emetic etc. Once he is able to take orally, oral rehydration solution is best. Don't worry, consult doctor and discuss all these. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your son. Thanks.
