Hello Doc! My mother had undergone CABG due to triple vessel blockage (including in LAD). Post surgery, she had an incident of VT which was immediately observed by ICU doctors and treated including shock. Her EF was 60% before surgery and three months post surgery, all her reports were fine but her EF dropped to 48% (probably during the surgery or during the VT incident). She was on Betaloc 50 for three months & after that, our surgeon prescribed Prolomet-XL 25 to her but one of our close family cardiologist instead recommended Prolomet-R (25/2.5) saying that it will help in EF aspect as well. So we have started using R now but ever since then she has observed dry coughing on frequent basis even though her BP & HR are also well controlled (like it was since discharge). One more thing to note is that during surgery, both her Pleura were opened (may be a common practice). Question- I would like to know if this is a known side effect? Should we ignore or treat coughing separately? Or return to Prolomet-XL instead of Prolomet-R ?
