Hello,

You are absolutely right in not wanting to give your child antibiotics for a prolonged period. Too much use of antibiotics will damage the normal flora of the intestine.

Moreover, if it is an allergic cough, antibiotics will not help. It is important to determine the source of her allergy so that it can be eliminated because without that she won't be relieved.

Most likely causes of allergy are dust, mites and some pollen. The best way to boost her immunity is to give her a healthy diet incorporating fruits vegetables and nuts.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma Amman
