What Causes Frequent Bowel Movements While On Moxifloxacin And Prednisone?
I am currently taking Moxifloxacin (400 mg) one tablet per day - 10 day cycle currently on day 5 and a 7 day course of Prednisone (500 mg) one tablet per day - 7 day cycle on currently on day 5 Also a codeine cough syrup - 5 ml as needed every 6 hours (have not needed it in the last 24 hours) b Today, I experienced frequent bowel movements that began as what I could best describe as sludge; progressing to what appeared to be granular. Is this a side effect of the antibiotic of which I should be concerned?

Your concern is appreciated. If such a patient comes to my clinic, I would tell him that some people do have loose motions when they are taking antibiotics. There is not much to be concerned of. I would advise the patient to either take a multivitamin capsule or probiotic for around 10 days.
