GERD (
Gastro Esophageal Reflux disease )occurrs when
gastric acid regurgitate into the esophagus.
GERD presents wirh
chest discomfort and burning sensation in chest.Some people also have choking sensation and tightness of throat.
I suggest that you consult with your doctor for your symptoms. Depending on the severity and duration of symptoms, your doctor will recommend additional investigations, life style modifications alone or along with trial of medication (like antacids,
proton pump inhibitors like
omeprazole or H2 blockers like ranitidine)
Mean while you can try these life style changes to help control symptoms
-avoid spicy food,and fried fatty food
-avoid alchohol and smoking
-reduce weight if required ,regular exercise
-do not go to bed/lay down soon (at least 3 hours)after eating
-Raise head end of bed by 6 inches by using wood blocks under bed legs
