Hi! I went to obgyne for a random test. The doctor suggested for some lab test wherein they did some swab in my vagina. While doing it, doc said there was some foul smell from the inside which I just smelled for the 1st time also. When i came back for the lab result, it was negative, even the ultrasound. Though doctor said everythin was fine. I just cant ubderstand why there was foul smell but negative on the VHS result. Pls help.
Having a foul vaginal odor does not mean always it's from any infection. Changes of the vagina during a menstrual cycle due to hormonal influence can cause this foul odor at certain days, especially prior to incoming periods.
Next, if the vagina swab testing was a day or two after sexual intercourse, that could be a possible cause too.
Furthermore, poor hygiene can also be the most common cause.
The most important thing is that you are not having vaginal infection, so, there is nothing worrisome.
Keep good genital hygiene on daily basis, and especially after having sex.
Hope this helps.
