What Causes Formation Of Blood Blister At The Tooth Extraction Site?

I had an upper back tooth pulled a few weeks ago. I have had some swelling at the extraction site and they put me on cipro. I've almost finished the cipro and now I have a blood blister like bump hanging from extraction site. I have an appointment t.see my dentist again in 3 days. Does this sound like something that could be an emergency?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have an infection at the extraction site and the most common causes can be:
-There can be any remaining root piece that is flaring up the infection.
-There can be any foreign body in the extraction socket.
-Persisting left out infected granulation tissue in the extraction socket, if the tooth was previously infected, that is before extraction..

I would suggest you to consult your treating dentist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray can help in ruling out the cause and treatment can be done accordingly..
In case of any left out root piece or foreign body removal of the same followed by antibiotics and painkillers can help..
In case of infected granulation tissue in the socket curettage of the same and irrigation with antiseptic solution followed by antibiotics will resolve the problem..
As of now you can gargle with antiseptic mouthwash to reduce infection..
Do warm saline gargles..
If there is pain take Ibuprofen..
Take a soft diet..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
