Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 32 year old daughter has foot pain and swelling on one foot only! She had x-ray and no broken bones ! The pain is on top of foot about where arch is located ! Propping foot up helps some but some pain persists ! It began roughly 3 weeks ago ! She can walk on it with discomfort though ! I thought it might be Gout but she doesn t have any burning ! What are possibilities ?
I have studied your case and I think it can be GOUT. It is not necessary that gout should always causes burning pain, some time it can be just pain and swelling.I would recommend you to get your serum uric acid level. I would also recommend you to avoid eating red meat, avoid heavy alcohol. Also take Brufen for pain relief. If serum uric acid level is high than I would suggest you to take tablet Xyloric also. This tablet helps in reducing serum uric acid level. If there is no high uric acid level than your footwear can be cause of such pain. So change foot wear also. I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other follow up questions. thanks
