What Causes Fluttering Sensation In The Chest While Suffering From Sarcoidosis?

I am 53, have a pacemaker, sarcoidosis in my lungs. over the past few days I have developed an issue that occurs intermittently. I experience fluttering in my chest, my heart rate drops to 40 or just below, I experience pain in my left torso, and lower back on left. After a few minutes it subsides. I went to the emergency room 4 days ago, and they said all looked fine, yet I am still experiencing this problem. I thought it may be from too much caffeine, so I stopped drinking coffee 3 days ago. Any ideas

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Considering the fact that you have a pacemaker, the intermittent changes in the heart rate and rhythm, might indicate any pacemaker failure or malfunction. In my opinion, you should be checked by a cardiologist and perform a 24 hour rhythm Holter monitoring. Caffeine affects your heart rate, increasing it.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
