What Causes Fluttering In Chest And Pulsating In Neck?

Hi, I m 45, female, and for the last 8 hours or so, I can feel my pulse in my neck and see it pulsating, and my chest feels fluttery, it doesn t hurt, it just feels like it s moving inside, as well with the heartbeat/flutter and when I lay down, and sometimes still when I sit up it almost feels like someone is squeezing my neck. As I am falling asleep, it keeps waking me up, the pulsing. The pulse in my neck is a big pulse, it looks over exaggerated, you can clearly see it and feel it, its on the right side of my neck. I also have a bit of slight wheezing, all day today too and I have to keep clearing my throat. The best way to describe my chest feeling - like particles are moving inside with the fluttery heartbeat. No coughing. I m afraid to fall asleep, it s been bothering me all night. What could this be? I did sleep the night before in a very cold air conditioned hotel. Could that have something to do with any of this?

Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion you should get done some investigation.
1. ECG and 2D Echo to rule out heart disease.
2. Chest x ray to rule out pulmonary cause.
3. Carotid doppler examination for bilateral carotid artery.
4. CBC for hemoglobin estimation as anemia can cause this.
5. Thyroid profile for thyroid disease as it can also be the cause.
If all these are normal than no need to worry. It will be due to anxiety and stress.so consult your doctor and discuss these.
