What Causes Fluid In The Chest And Lungs While Suffering From Typhoid?
hi my daughter who is 14 years diagnosed with typhoid 10 days ago. today by x-ray and ultra sound she was found to have around one litre of fluid between lungs n chest. upto 700 ml was removed thro, syringe. I request what may be the cause n remedy pl?
Collection of fluid in the lungs is called 'pleural effusion'. Generally, typhoid doesn't cause a collection of fluid in the lung cavity as it is inflammation limited to the intestinal mucosa. Such pulmonary complications are seen in multi-drug resistant typhoid fever associated with bacteraemia. Also, there might be an independent cause for the collection of fluid in the lung cavity, which needs to be investigated and treated.
Pleural fluid analysis and chest x-ray should be able to establish the underlying cause. Kindly consult your doctor in this regard for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
