What Causes Fluid Filled Painful Bumps On Underarms?

Ever since I was 16 these boil like bumps pop up under my arms causing much pain to the point I can t move my arm I was told it was an inflamed sweat gland but recently it has opened but this time a little peice of flesh is sticking out and it has a foul odor and oozes pus on its own I m very worried what could this be

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of fluid filled painful bumps on underarms which occur because of abundance of sebaceous glands in these areas. It could be due to hair follicle infection, improper hygiene and bacterial infection as well. Need not to worry. Maintain complete hygiene of that area. I would suggest you to wash these areas daily with lukewarm water and body wash containing salicylic acid twice a day and apply cream containing azelaic acid which is good for pimples. If condition doesn't get well in a week then consult dermatologist for proper examination and treatment. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like minocycline, steroid ointment and may recommend chemical peeling for pus filled lump. Take diet rich in multivitamins. Apply topical antibacterial ointment.
