Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m a 49 year old male, who has been very physically active my entire life. My blood pressure has been averaging 105 over 66 lately, which it has always been average at 118/78... My only negative is I have had an overall cholesterol level of 230 and HDL s are 42. Any concerns on blood pressure dropping? Thanks
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The decrease in blood pressure is okay because it is still within the normal range. The lower limit of blood pressure is 90/60 mmHg. Your blood pressure is above this so it is still within the range that would be considered okay. It would only be a problem if you are having symptoms because your body is used to a higher reading e.g. dizziness, weakness, cold or clammy etcetera.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
