What Causes Fever And Cough Followed By Facial Pain?

My 24 y/o son has had symptoms for about a month. First it was fever, cough, seemed like a cold. Then the facial pain begain, some ear pain, and green mucus. So he was prescribed antibiotics. About two weeks later, after airplane travel, all the pain was back, the cough was much worse. He got another round of Augmentin. Now, 10 days later, his throat is MUCH more sore, and even inhaling takes some effort. I m not sure what to recommend.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks forasking. I understand your concern
The recurring episides of sore throat suggest possibility of bacterial resistance to Agumentin (may be due to insufficient course/repeated consumption.) Possibility of streptococcal thriat remains.
The ear pain is due to eustachian tubal block .. leading to ear involvement. And ear drum irritation due to areoplane travel second time.
He need throat swab/sputum culture&sensitivity test to know proper antibiotic ... followed by suffucient antibiotic course with ENT specialist's advise&improvement of immunity by antoxidents &prevention of exposure to infection.
Thanks.
